Welcome to Parrots!
We are really looking forward to meeting you in September. Below is a social story for parents and carers to look at with your child at home, so they feel more comfortable with the classroom and teaching staff.
Create a free parent account to access over 100 e-books by visiting Oxford Owl Library.
Play free games to practise the children's phonics, segmenting and blending.
We are now able to send school reading books home. However, we are still having to quarantine books for a 48 hour period before another child can take it home. Therefore, on a Monday we will put two new reading books into your child’s book bag. Please can these be read and returned by the Friday, in order to prepare the books ready for redistribution within our bubble the following Monday.
We have also introduced a reading reward system in our class that encourages the children to read at home. Please continue to sign your child’s reading record if they have read, as this will allow the child to add a sticker to the chart the following day. The books can be read more than once to develop the child’s fluency, but also to develop their understanding of the story.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
