In the light of an incident in the village yesterday where a secondary school pupil reported a van and its occupants behaving in a manner that may have been suspicious, please be vigilant, particularly regarding your child's journey to and from school, or when they are unaccompanied outside.
We would be grateful if you could speak to the children about what to do if they are approached by a stranger in these situations. The child in this instance did the right thing by running away (to their house) straight away and raising the alarm, without engaging with the vehicle occupants in any way. If no-one is close by, a loud repeated shout for help at the same time as the child fleeing the scene would also help to raise the alarm.
Please can parents ensure that their child/ren are accompanied by an adult after dark and be collected from any afterschool group/club from the school playground.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
