As you will be aware, it is very important to us at the moment to strike the right balance between being visible and present during the morning drop off and afternoon pick-ups. Mrs Rowland, Mrs Atkins, Miss Twinn and I all really appreciate how friendly and supportive you are all being at these times, and we hope that we have been available to support parents and children as they arrive and leave.
We believe that this approach is very important and will continue to greet our parents in this way. However, as you will be aware, infection rates/positive tests as a result of COVID 19 have been increasing in the local region.
With this in mind we are revisiting our risk assessments (this is an ongoing process in all schools) and have made the decision that members of staff who are working on the gates at these times will wear face coverings during the current time. We will also be maintaining social distancing, which along with good hand hygiene is the most effective way of preventing the spread of the virus.
Quite a few parents have already started to wear face coverings when dropping off and collecting, and because of the current local situation, we would now like to politely request that all our parents follow suit when on site, and wear either a cloth covering or a facemask. If anyone is unable to wear a face covering for medical reasons, please let us know. We hope that this is only for a temporary period, and appreciate your support in this matter.
I would like to reiterate that we will continue to provide a friendly welcome to all our pupils, parents and carers each day.
