Following half term, the nights will become darker, and this will affect the arrangements we have in place to ensure the safety and security of our children and parents. The main change that we will look to make to our one-way system during the autumn and winter is to reverse the route.
From the 2 November, we would like parents and children to enter the school via the Green Lane entrance and walk along the path to the edge of the playground where they currently drop off/collect. We will place social distancing lines along this part of the route for queuing purposes. The staggered start and finishing times will remain as they are currently and there will be a marshal placed at the Green Lane entrance to oversee this process. Once parents have dropped off/collected their children they should then leave the site via the main pedestrian gate on Capel Street. The main reason for reversing the current route is that we have street lights on the path from the playground to the pedestrian gate, and Capel Street itself also has good lighting, which becomes important as the afternoon goes on. Green Lane is not currently lit, so for the classes who leave later in the afternoon this poses a potential problem as we lose the natural light.
Thank you to the parents who I have spoken to on the gate about ways forward on this point. A couple of parents made this suggestion in the first instance, and your feedback is very much appreciated.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
