Ofsted Report Introduction

We are pleased to share the final report from our Ofsted inspection, which took place in June this year.

An Ofsted inspection provides an opportunity for a school to showcase its work and for inspectors to gain an understanding of the experiences of children and families within the school. We are pleased that the report recognises the excellent work and positive achievements taking place across our school.

In particular, the report highlights our inclusive and supportive school community, the positive relationships between staff and pupils, our calm and purposeful environment, and the strong pastoral care we provide for our children. These are important aspects of school life and reflect the commitment of our staff, governors, children and families to creating a welcoming and supportive environment in which every child can thrive.

The report also recognises the wide range of opportunities available to our children and the strength of our curriculum. Inspectors particularly recognised the work we have undertaken to develop and embed strong approaches to early reading and phonics, ensuring that children have a secure foundation for their learning as they progress through school.

We encourage all parents, carers and prospective families to read the full report and consider the written comments alongside the headline judgements. The headline judgements alone do not provide the full context of the inspection or reflect the detail of the inspectors' observations and discussions during their visit.

There are two areas of the report where this context is particularly important, especially given changes to the way Ofsted reports are now presented.

Attendance and Behaviour: The judgement in this area is driven primarily by attendance, which remains an area of continued focus and attention for us. As the report makes clear, behaviour in school is strong. We have high expectations for behaviour and are proud of the calm, respectful and purposeful environment that inspectors observed.

We recognise the importance of improving attendance further and will continue to work closely with children and families to support strong and consistent attendance.

Achievement: The report's achievement judgement also needs to be considered in context. It reflects, to a significant extent, published results from a previous Year 6 cohort. We continue to see improvement in children's achievement, with this progress building from Reception onwards and providing a strong foundation as children move through the school.

As with any inspection, the report identifies areas where we can continue to improve. We welcome this and will use the findings to sharpen our focus in these areas. We have a skilled and dedicated team who are committed to ensuring that every child receives the best possible education, care and experience at our school.

We are proud of the many strengths recognised within the report and remain committed to building on these while continuing to improve for all our children and families.
